Only in New York city would a construction company spend so much to save a 2ft wide grid of what use to be a facade but still call it a “facade” to keep from adhering to current restrictions that if they removed this grid they would loose sq feet from their footprint. NYC law states that building constructed in west village must be a certain distance from the curb to let light into the neighborhood. At least I will have a great view of the Hudson for a few months.
